Compost and Wine - the new kids on the block

The Shop is constantly on the look out for ways to improve and January provides a great time to reflect and plan for the future. Lots of improvements and plans in the pipeline for the shop but for now we thought we would introduce you to a few new products that have just come onto our shelves.

New Range of Peat Free Wool Compost from Dalefoot

We now know the full impact of using peat on the environment and at Falconhurst we are now committed to no longer using peat based composts in the garden and selling through the shop.

After plenty of research we are proud to start selling Dalefoot Composts made in the Lake District. Potash rich bracken blended with sheeps wool provides improved water retention and slow release nitrogen and now includes added comfrey!

Lead the way to a more sustainable garden this year.

Two new Red wines to add to the collection

Dry January is over…

Lirac by Roger Sabon – another family run vineyard a stones throw from Sabon’s Châteauneuf-du-Pape vines on the opposite banks of the Rhône River. An extremely good value wine with a rich fruit palate, perfectly balanced and fine texture. Hard to beat!

Clos La Coutale Cahors Malbec - The Bernede family farm 60 hectares on the gentle slopes rising from the Lot river which is rich in siliceous, clay and limestone soils. Philippe has tinkered with the blend over the years to achieve a fine equilibrium, and today the blend consists of 80% Malbec and 20% Merlot, creating an intense wine combining local rusticity with everyday drinking. Coutale ages well.

Our French wine is hand selected with the help of Tim French from Thorman and Hunt Homepage - Thorman Hunt
